LIGHT ARTWORKS by
August Muth (USA), Dora Tass (IT), CAlex Clark ( USA)
When observing a light artwork the viewer encounters a perceptual doorway. Stepping through that doorway into a tactile three-dimensional experience comprised of no material substance, an opportunity emerges. As luminous veils of light invite the viewer into a multi-dimensional, tactile journey enveloped in mystery.
Through our work, we strive to record with precision the perceptible light-space-time phenomena. In this intertwining, these three components form a three-dimensional topography of pure light, revealing a window into the illusive realms of the paradox.
Humankind has commenced an evolutionary process to embrace the edge of photonic.
Light-based processing, communication and sensing systems are on the precipice of common actuality. Holography will be a major participant in this trasformation to the photonic future and evolution of our understanding of the universe.

During my time in art school, my main focus was photography, with an emphasis in technology and systems. My consistent interest was exploring the precepts of Object Oriented Ontology and creating imagery that was both dictated by machine logic and uncertainty, while maintaining an aesthetic that was graspable by human prejudices. The foreseeable future while attending the Santa Fe University of Art and Design was to develop both software and hardware that furthered the aesthetic desires of the machines that humans utilize to capture, preserve, and playback sensory perception.
Three months after I graduated with a BFA in Photography, I met a holographer working in Santa Fe and have been honing my holography skills ever since. I am currently an apprentice to and collaborator with August Muth. We make real 3-D holograms with optical techniques. Undergoing such an abrupt shift in medium, however, did not change the course of my desires or philosophy. Currently I seek to use holography to both reveal inherent truths regarding the universe and discuss the manner in which humans perceive this universe they create.
I grew up in Wichita, KS and moved to Santa Fe, NM to study in 2010. I am currently attending the Low Residency MFA Program at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, planning to graduate in 2018.
